JOINING METRO YOUTH FOOTBALL

A Player becomes involved with MYFA by registering online or participating in one of two in-person sign-up dates. Go to the Important Dates page for registration details, dates and the online registration link.

Players who wish to participate in MYFA must be going into the fourth grade, have not completed the sixth grade and weigh at least 60lbs. Players will be assigned a team by grade level, the high school that they will attend, geographic area the player’s home address and registration order.

Teams are limited to a maximum of 30 players; players may be assigned to an alternate or placed on a waiting list if the player’s “home” team has been filled.

There is a participation fee of $95.00 due at registration.

Registration and eligibility questions should be directed to the registrar (Roger Gruwell) at sign-up or call the info line: (319) 393-8696.

As a Coach

Metro Youth Football is always in need of quality individuals who are willing to coach in our flag and tackle programs. Click here for more information on becoming a coach.

Persons desiring to participate in MYFA must apply to the Board of Directors at their regular monthly meeting, usually the third Wednesday of each month. Those applying will then be interviewed by the coaching committee of the E-board and referred with a recommendation to the board for an up or down vote .

Most coaches in the program begin as an assistant before becoming a head coach. Parents are especially encouraged to become involved with the program in this way. In addition a limited number of Head Coach vacancies occur each year.

As a Volunteer

While we recognize that many parents are unable to commit to the time demands that coaching entails, there are numerous other volunteer opportunities that help make the league function. At the beginning of each season each Head Coach will hold a parents meeting to explain how MYFA operates, each coach’s program, and where parents might volunteer some time to the league. Some examples of parent volunteer activities include painting our fields, being the chain gang on the sidelines, planning the after-season party, keeping stats, etc. MYFA could not operate without parent involvement.

Please consider it!
