What is the cost? The cost for all spring football programs is $109.
When will I know what team I am on, and be contacted by a coach? You will get an email from us on March 22nd inviting you to your team...Coaches will be in contact with you shortly after that. If you do not receive an invite on the 23rd, we have not identified a coach for your team yet. Once we have a coach, you will be contacted.
When will practice start? Practice for all divisions starts the week of March 31st.
Where will practice be? Practice locations, days of the week, and times are determined by the head coach. Typically these practices are held in your local area.
Where are the games? Games are at the MYFA Complex. 1100 A’Hearn Drive in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
When do games start and how long do they last? All flags games are scheduled for Sunday afternoons with our first games starting at 12pm. Some 7v7 passing league games may be held on Monday evenings to accommodate baseball teams.
How long is the season? Our first week of games will be April 13th. Our last games will take place on May 18th.
When will the game schedule be available? Game schedules for the entire year will be available one week prior to the first games.
Is there assistance available to help with registration fees? Yes, we do have financial assistance available for qualifying families who are eligible for their district's Free and Reduced meal plan. Please contact MYFA at [email protected] for more information.
What equipment does my athlete need for the season? Nothing really, MYFA provides mouth guards, flags and jerseys for all players in K-4th grade. 5th/6th and 7/8th passing league teams will coordinate with their coach on jerseys. Rubber Cleats are recommended but not required.
Can I request a specific coach? For the spring season we do allow players to request a coach. There is a question on the registration form for that specific request.
When are team pictures taken? Pictures are the first week of the season, with a rain make-up date of week two.
Where is the best place to go for up to date information on your league and any scheduling changes? Our Facebook page is always the first place to go for weather related changes and the latest news. Also our website metroyouthfootball.com is a great resource for additional league information.
Can you tell me more about the Kindergarten Instructional League? The "K-League" will be a instructional camp for kindergarten players. We will have these four instructional camps on April 27th, May 4th, May 11th, and May 18th. Players will get instruction in fundamental aspects of football each week while also getting the opportunity to play games the last two weeks. MYFA Board Members and area High School football players will lead the instruction...There are no weekly practices. The price for this division will be $30 and volunteers are welcome!!!
