What is the cost? The cost for fall tackle football is $199 for 4th thru 6th grade and $129 for 7th & 8th. Modified flag football is $159 and 1st & 2nd grade flag football is $79.  THERE IS A 20% LATE FEE FOR ALL DIVISIONS FOR REGISTRATIONS AFTER TEAM PLACEMENT DATE.

Why the late fee and what is the "team placement date" for each division. We have done this out of necessity to ensure we have coaches for teams, and we are able to have the appropriate number of players per team.  The date for  team placement is 8/6/2022 for 1st-6th grades and 7/18/2022 for 7th and 8th grade.

When will practice start? Practice for all the 1st-6th grade divisions starts the week of Aug 22nd.  7th-8th grade divisions need to check with their coaches on start dates.

Where will practice be? Practice locations, days of the week, and times are determined by the head coach. Typically these practices are held in your local area.

Where are the games? Games are at the MYFA Complex on A’hearn drive in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and the Tuma Sports Complex in Marion.

When do games start and how long do they last? All games are scheduled for Sunday afternoons.

How long is the season? Our first week of games will be Sept 11th. Our last games will take place on Oct 23rd.

When will the game schedule be available? Game schedules for the entire year will be available one week prior to the first games.

Is there assistance available to help with registration fees? Yes,  we are willing to waive a portion of registration fees for families that qualify. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

What equipment does my athlete need for the season? MYFA provides mouth guards,  padded pants, shoulder pads, helmets, and guardian caps for all players. Rubber molded cleats are recommended but not required.

Can I request a specific coach? For the fall season, teams are assigned by school district attendance. All players will need to show proof of grade and school they attend. No exceptions will be made for playing outside of current school boundaries.

When are team pictures taken? Picture times and dates will be determined by your coach/district.

Where is the best place to go for up to date information on your league and any scheduling changes? Our Facebook page is always the first place to go for weather related changes and the latest news. Our website metroyouthfootball.com is a great resource for additional league information.

Is 5th and 6th grade being combined for tackle football this year?
Yes. All other football programs (excluding Des Moines) has already gone to a combined 5th and 6th grade. In an effort to ensure that we do not have to travel to Des Moines, and to maintain our safety and participation rules, the General Board made the decision to combine 5th and 6th grade to create a self sustainable product.

What will the weight limit be for the combined grade?
The weight limit will be set at 120.0 lbs...meaning if you weigh 120.0 or under you are able to be a ball carrier.

What else is new this year?
We will be doing a fifth quarter for each game this year...This will be designed to allow kids to develop at positions that they may not get to play during normal game circumstances.
